Chiropractic Treatments for neck pain

What is neck pain?

Neck pain can come in many forms. Often it can be joint ache, muscle tightness or vertebral dysfunction in and around the neck and upper back. The presentation of pain can include hot, burning, shooting, or stabbing pain, which can go in your shoulders or into one or both of your arms. Headaches are often associated with neck pain with research showing 75 percent of headaches are cervicogenic (originating from the neck).

Causes of neck pain

There are many causes that can contribute to neck pain. It can come from the cervical spine or from muscular tightness. A common factor can be trauma from an old incident (such as a car-accident or a whiplash injury). Poor posture is also a typical cause which could be slumping over, text-neck, or simply a poor sleeping position. When poor habits are repeated, over time it can cause discomfort. We have also found that high stress levels can also be attributed to neck pain.

Can chiropractic care help with neck pain?

Chiropractic typically can alleviate some neck pain, depending on the cause. Whether it is from the cervical-spine or the surrounding musculature. A chiropractor would need to do an examination with potentially x-ray imaging to determine if it would be in the scope of chiropractic care.

For neck pain; treatment with us at Purelands Chiropractic could include specific chiropractic adjustments to the cervical spine, occiput, jaw/TMJ, Cervico-thoracic junction and the upper ribs. Furthermore, as a part of a whole body approach, we would also ensure that stress in other areas of the spine, and your sensory system, is looked after. Allowing your body to be at its optimal and giving you and your body the best chance to heal.
